Four more are gone. Only two weeks ago, they were with us. They were nearing the end, yes, but they were still with us. But now, such times are only memory. Two others have only weeks left before they go as well. So much is changing. So many are passing. Continue reading

The Journey
“Further up and further in”
Thus our wand’ring feet must go
Answer “Yes” or answer “No”
Let the journey now begin
Enter now this holy bond
Heaven’s Son lifts up your face
Faultless ‘fore the throne of grace
Father calls and we respond
Whether by our sprint or schlep
We must mount the heights today
There is help along the way
Do not lose your heart or step
Trust the holy Trinity
Evermore in him abide
He will never leave your side
God has won the victory
Thanks (The Blessing of Friendship)

The time is 10:03 am on Monday, October 19. I’m sitting in a little coffee shop in Shreveport, Louisiana. Ordinarily, I’d be doing some last minute edits before updating this blog, but, as I’m sitting here, these are the only words on the page. And I’m fine with that.
Return
Wake the slumb’ring soul within this man
I have wandered far from my first love
Living by my world-influenced plan
I have lost my eyes for things above
Not that God’s salvation was in vain
Nor have I been stolen from his hand
My old flesh, however, doth remain
Warring ‘gainst the grace in which I stand
I, like Paul, do feel the fight inside
Flesh and spirit trading blows within
Though my Lord now calls me to abide
I bypass escape to fall to sin
No more
Resuscitate me from this momentary lapse of consciousness
I long to leave these lesser things and live in hope and holiness
My eyes have seen the glory of the risen, reigning, coming King
So let my feeble breath be brought before you as an offering
Set my eyes on things above
Bring me back to my first love
The Death of Love?
Nicholas Sparks, the author of a large number of romance novels, divorced his wife of twenty-five years earlier this year according to a number of sources online. The articles I read noted that he and his wife had come to this decision after much consideration, but separation was still the final verdict. Continue reading

If I Might Be Transparent…
I am not infallible or inerrant. Neither am I sinless or untouched by the fall. As much as I wish I were, I’m just not. I’m a normal guy, saved by grace from bondage to sin, yet still struggling with sin. Continue reading

Time Travel and the Trinity
Time travel is absolutely ridiculous, to the point that I can’t possibly understand it completely.

Paradox
Counted righteous, yet we sin
Broken, but He lives within
Dying daily while we live
We are paupers, yet we give
Owning, but cannot afford
Wealth belonging to the Lord
Rich beyond all human dreams
In the desert finding streams
Walking from the state of death
Lungs of dust inflate with breath
Weakness shows a deeper might
Faith replaces eyes for sight
Hope endures when hope has died
Tortured souls in peace abide
Counting joy the deepest strife
Dying Son; eternal life
